UK Vape Tax 2026

Vape Duty is Coming – What You Need to Know
From 1 October 2026, the Government is introducing a new tax on vaping products in the UK.
It’s called Vaping Products Duty (VPD) and, unfortunately, it means the price of e-liquids and other products containing vaping liquid will increase.
The good news is that, even with the new duty, vaping will still remain considerably cheaper than smoking. So, while prices will be going up, vaping can still offer a significant saving compared smoking.
We know nobody likes a price increase, so we want to explain what’s changing, when you’ll notice it, and what we’re doing to make the transition as painless as possible.
What is Vaping Products Duty?
From 1 October 2026, the Government will introduce a new duty of £2.20 for every 10ml of vaping liquid. The duty applies to vaping liquid whether it contains nicotine or not. That means the amount of tax added depends on how much liquid a product contains – not its nicotine strength.
For example:
- 2ml of e-liquid = 44p duty + VAT
- 10ml of e-liquid = £2.20 duty + VAT
- 50ml of e-liquid = £11.00 duty + VAT
- 100ml of e-liquid = £22.00 duty + VAT
This is a new excise duty in addition to VAT, rather than a replacement for VAT.

Does that mean our prices will increase on 1 October?
No. The Government has included a six-month transition period for existing stock.
Products manufactured or imported into the UK before 1 October 2026 can continue to be sold without the new duty stamp until 31 March 2027.
We’ve planned ahead and secured additional stock of many of our most popular products ahead of the change. This means that, while our existing eligible stock lasts, we’ll be able to continue selling many products at their current prices without the new Vape Duty included.
So when will prices actually change?
There won’t be one date before 1st April 2027 when everything suddenly becomes more expensive. Instead, you’ll gradually start to see prices change as our existing pre-duty stock sells out and is replaced with new duty-paid stock.
Some popular products and flavours may sell through much faster than others, so different ranges – and even different flavours within a range – may move onto duty-paid pricing at different times.
We’ll always make our prices clear, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying.
Should I stock up?
There's no need to panic! The sell-through period runs until 1st April 2027, which means retailers can continue selling existing pre-duty stock until then. However, if you have particular e-liquids or flavours that you regularly use, buying them before our existing stock runs out could save you money. Some retailers may increase their prices as soon as the new duty comes into effect, but we expect to have a good supply of pre-duty stock available for several months, while stocks last.
We’re not suggesting filling the spare bedroom with e-liquid! However, if you do want to buy ahead and make the most of current pre-duty prices, we’d suggest building up a supply gradually by adding a few extra bottles or pre-filled pods to your usual purchases.
Not only does this spread the cost, it also means your stock will have a better range of expiry dates, helping to ensure your e-liquid stays fresh and is enjoyed at its best.
Once our existing stock of a product has gone, we may not be able to replace it at the same cost during the sell-through period. So if there’s something you really don’t want to be without, we’d recommend not leaving it until the last minute.
What happens from 1 April 2027?
From 1 April 2027, all vaping products being sold in the UK must carry the appropriate Vape Duty stamp. At that point, any remaining unstamped stock can no longer legally be sold.
What are we doing about it?
We’ve known this change was coming for some time and have been planning carefully to reduce the impact on our customers wherever we can.
We’ve secured additional stock ahead of the introduction of the duty, and we’ll continue working closely with our suppliers to keep prices as competitive as possible.
We also know that the new duty will make value for money more important than ever. We’ll therefore be reviewing our ranges, pricing and multi-buy options to make sure we’re still offering good value once duty-paid products begin arriving.
Our priority hasn’t changed: giving adult smokers and vapers honest advice, good products and fair prices.
Don’t panic – but don’t leave it too late!
There’s no need to rush out and buy everything by the 30th September.
Our existing eligible stock doesn’t suddenly become illegal when the duty starts on 1st October, and we’ve prepared for the transition. However, we can’t guarantee how long individual products or flavours will remain available at their current prices.
So if you have a favourite that you know you’ll use, now might be a sensible time to start stocking up.
And as always, if you're unsure about how Vape Duty will affect the products you use, just ask us. We're happy to explain what's changing and help you work out the most cost-effective options.
