What is Vaping?
Vaping is the consumption of Nicotine suspended in a flavoured liquid known as E-liquid or E-juice. The liquid is soaked up by a wick (usually cotton or silica) which is either surrounding a resistance wire or in the middle of the resistance wire. The wire is in turn heated up with a battery and that turns the liquid on the wick into vapour. This is in turn inhaled, and that is what vaping is.
Why Vape?
So now you know what vaping is, you’re probably asking why vape? Well, most people vape as a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes. In fact Public Health England investigated and found the to be “95% safer than traditional cigarettes”.
The other big reason is financial, you save a lot of money. The average smoker would save around £2000 a year by switching!
What Type of Vaping is best for me?
With so many different types of vape devices available on the market today, it’s hard to decide which one is best for you. There are two main types; Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) kits and Sub-Ohm kits. The main difference is that a MTL is more similar to smoking a cigarette they use a higher nicotine which gives a bigger throat hit. This is recommended for new vapers and those looking to quit.
Sub-Ohm on the other hand, uses lower nicotine levels and has a different draw style. It is a smoother vape with more vapour and flavour. Sub-Ohm vaping is recommended for more advanced users due to more complexity compared to MTL vaping.
What Kit Should I Buy?
Now you know if you want a MTL or Sub-Ohm kit. You now need to choose what kit. There are two main types of kit, Pen style and Box mod. Each has its own benefits, Pen style kits are usually easier to use with a fire button and no adjustments. The benefit is you don’t need to worry about adjustments or changing settings it’s just turn on and away you go. The downfall of this is it usually means you’re stuck with using the tank which came with the kit. On the other hand, Box kits are usually more technical and require more knowledge to use. However Box Kits are very versatile and can run with a variety of different tanks as long as the battery can provide enough power to use that specific tank, this is usually printed on the box for the tank or on the atomiser in the tank.
Learning About Your Kit
So you’ve just got hold of your new kit and you’re wondering what each component is. Most if not all kits share the same basic components such as a battery, tank, and an atomiser. Some kits also come with mouth pieces which can be replaced with different styles to suit you. Some also utilise replacement batteries. We will go through all of this now.
The battery is arguably the most important part of your kit. The battery holds all the hardware to change the power output of the battery to suit your taste. Your tank is what holds your liquid and feed it into your atomiser. The atomiser as we know turns the liquid into the vapour.
Each kit comes with a user manual to show the specifics of each component.
